DOSEMU is a PC Emulator application that allows Linux to run a DOS operating system in a virtual x86 machine. This allows you to run many DOS applications.
- Color text and full keyboard emulation (via hotkeys) via terminal.
- Built-in X support, includes IBM character set font.
- Graphics capability at the console with most compatible video cards.
- DPMI support so you can run DOOM.
- CDROM support.
- Builtin IPX and pktdrvr support.

For newer dos games that won't run in Dosbox. Dosemu will likely run it. I found that GTA1 runs perfectly fine in Dosemu, but Dosbox closes itself after a minute of play. However, you need to edit the dosemu.conf file in etc\dosemu to get sound, set sound to [2], and mark out the lines referring to sound. The sound lags a bit but better than no sound. Game runs perfect and smooth. Dosemu is a better alternative when Dosbox falls short. You should check it out, it is easier to use than Dosbox in some ways. Another thing; Dosemu has a strange bug where I need to have a folder open in a window on the desktop before running a game in fullscreen for a line to disappear at the bottom of screen. Some useful keys: Ctrl+Alt+F fullscreen on/off. Ctrl+Alt+P to pause. Fullscreen mode automatically grabs mouse and windowed mode automatically releases mouse grabbed. Better than Dosbox in function I'd say there. Ctrl+Alt+Home to grab mouse in windowed mode.

Nice DOS emulator, not as good as DOSbox to run games, but great to run some old DOS applications ^_^
