Playing with FreeMat 3 or 4 days. At first the learning curve seemed steep. But just found FreematPrimerV4e1-1.pdf and freemattutorial.pdf online. These appear extremely helpful. I love the simplicity oo the plot cammand. Also that a large number ofmathematical functions can be applied to complex variables. That's needed for electrical circuit analysis. Freemat also has the matrix operations needed for quantum matrix mechanics class. By reducing calculation errors, FreeMat can show students the advantages of mastering complex variable arithmentic, matrix operations and other mid-level mathematics when planning to enter college in science and engineering fields.

Fully featured, fast, free and just a great program. You'll be right at home if you've used MATLAB before.

Best mathematics framework. It is the fastest. Very responsive, it is written in Assembly, Fortran and C. It is true that the scripting is most compatible with Matlab.
