The open vulnerability assessment system (openvas) is a modular security auditing tool, used for testing remote systems for vulnerabilities that should be fixed. openvas was forked of the nessus vulnerability scanner.

it is made up of two parts: a server, and a client. the server/daemon, openvasd, is in charge of running the tests, whereas the client, openvas-client, provides both a text and a graphical user interface.

this package provides the server needed to run the tests agains the remote hosts.
