Keyboard centric notes

Notorious is a keyboard centric notes app

Notorious can be controlled entirely with your keyboard. No need to move your hand to the mouse, just open it up and dump your brain.

In Notorious you can write your notes however you want, but if you like Markdown, you can easily enable syntax highlighting.

No need to worry about saving. When you change note or exit the app whatever you wrote gets automatically saved.

No need for cumbersome online sync features. Just choose a folder on your disk and that's it. Of course nothing stops you froms syncing that folder with your service of choice.

It does what it is expected to do with text. However, I do not enjoy the windows management. When I try to drag it elsewhere, it automatically widens to a length beyond my screen, forcing me to drag it out again and again. Further, if and only if the current content/field is empty, can I really edit my windows size. It refuses to resize properly when it otherwise has some text, like it's extremely slow. Further, I do not understand why the app occasionally reminds me that the text has "changed" and I need to refresh the note; this always makes me a tad anxious, and it also does not reflect the programmer's promise on the app's automatic saving. Or perhaps automatic and seamless are different things. I don't know. Finally, I fail to understand why the app has to automatically move its scrollbar or show the note options whenever I hover over or out of the app. It feels gimmicky and distracting. Overall, besides the promise on serving basic text-based tasks, it has some mild annoyances that can build up exponentially in time. I can't love it, but I recognise its utility.

My favorite simple note-taking app.
