GNOME Network Displays allows you to cast your desktop to a remote display. Supports the Miracast and Chromecast protocols.

This software requires PipeWire version 0.3.8 or higher on the host.

Working perfectly with VLC media player, and Google Chrome web browser and you have to download Firefox extension fx_cast for it to work on Firefox!

Kills wifi network, fails to find video sink and needs reboot to return to normal. (Mint 20.2, gnome 3.36.8)

Works, but required me to disable my firewall. To get _sound_ working, choose 'network display' in Mint's audio settings.

Finally found Linux application that allows screen sharing over at home network.
