We ported Roblox to Linux because they wouldn't.
Make Sober your own. See our documentation for a list of options.
The software is ok, but I couldn't login to my account. Problably because it has 2auth.
I have been using Sober for the last couple of days, and I have not noticed any errors and/or crashes aside occasional lag when Sober initially boots. Not bad!
super dissapointed, personally it's unplayable in it's current state predominantly because of the input lag, its hard to have fun. I have a good computer but i'm getting input delay, and random freezing that last's for aprox. 2 to 10 seconds at a time, its been like this for a little while now (good thing i dual booted windows). currently on mint 22.3 cinnamon.
Getting the same issues as everyone else. Also to update the app I have to reinstall the whole thing, also can't use my microphone for voice chat and getting screen tearing. My system is pretty powerful but struggles with sober, RTX 2060 and i5-10400, drivers are up to date, modified settings where I could but with little luck.
This is surprisingly flawless. From what I can tell, there is no significant performance issues. Only problem I can think of is that it takes a little longer to load than the normal Roblox app.
I'm on integrated graphics specifically the Iris plus G1 with a i5-1035G1 cpu. My only complaints are that I get bad input delay and frame drops, although using a few fast flags by editing the config file made them a little less prevelant, and loading into games is substantially slower than windows on the same hardware. Acceptable program, looking forward to seeing more progress.
Tested both on a NVIDIA and AMD PC for months, and it always ran well. It is not perfect though, but you'd rarely see a few minor visual glitches and crashes.
After reading the reviews I was hoping that it was just a machine specific problem or something but im getting the exact same input lag and frame drops that everyone else mentions and no ones tips were able to fix it for me besides changing the rendering to open GL but then it runs even worse. it makes my mouse feel very heavy and annoying to use, in first person its not as noticeable though. this was the first thing i went to download on my new install but now i have to reinstall windows because of this stupid minor thing it sucks that i couldnt be one of the lucky few. its cool to see roblox running on linux but considering how old the reviews are that complain about this it doesnt look like it will be fixed any time soon so maybe in a few months or years ill think about switching again. if anybody knows any fixes that could work and would be kind enough to help me i'd appreciate it my disord is @cass.ie
I don't know whats up with these other reviews, but the only complaint I have is that I need to uninstall and reinstall everytime roblox updates so I can still play normally. But the experience is the same as playing on windows, it's better i'd say. Roblox runs fine, smoothly and no issues at all happen to me while I game. I use a 11 year old laptop and had no problem whatsoever so far with Sober, I appreciate the people who made this possible and it is a truly wonderful thing we have this in the first place.
the high rating made me think i was going to get a near native-like experience but unfortunately i was proven very wrong. the biggest issue i've noticed is upon trying to type in any new ui or trying to chat, the game freezes every time varying from 5 to about 8 seconds each time, doesnt matter if you use vulkan or opengl. Also as another user mentioned the input delay is horrible, ESPECIALLY if you get fps drops which you will with this program, the cursor will slow down as much as ur fps right along with it. (it's also worth noting that i've tried updating every driver possible and troubleshooting the best i could) the only things that i found that helped are if you turn down your double-click timeout under the mouse and touchpad settings to lower or the lowest the input delay will be noticeably better. Also if you use the outdated opengl renderer in the sober settings your input delay will be lessened and even more if you combine it with turning down your double-click timeout, BUT your fps and performance overall will drop considerably, which is what linux is known for. (better performance) so you're basically just trading one problem for another. i wouldn't recommend this for any low end devices whatsoever, i suggest having windows installed along with ur linux if you plan on being able to play roblox enjoyably, or just switching to mobile instead.
I've had no (serious) problems so far! It's faster than when I used Roblox on Windows and the controller support is great! My only problem is sometimes the curser will dissappear when it lags.
the horrible input lag makes it nearly impossible to play games that require you to be in third person and its extremely annoying to click UIs like shops or inventories or anything on the sides of the screen. (my game runs at a solid 60fps)
Funciona bien pero depende totalmente de que tipo de actualizaciones implemente el mismo Roblox, ya que puede romper Sober si los cambios son grandes.
It's fine, the only issue I have is that the Cursor is linked to the FPS, so when I have low FPS, the cursor is slower and more delayed, like swimming through a pool, this is extremely annoying. I do hope in the future this is fixed.
Has been great for months, occasionally has a few minor issues but they get fixed quickly!
I haven't had really any issues except for the occasional time where it runs in the background and crashes on launch, but I quickly kill the running task and then it works. But It is really great that I'm able to play on linux, and one more last problem is I cant seem to buy robux while in the app. It might be a restriction from linux but I wish I could still buy it because only being allowed to buy $5 or more on the website and pc is annoying.
it doesnt update instantly after a roblox update. (obviously cus it isnt official) that is my only complaint. the game runs well. u can switch ur fps to be higher. u can use shift-lock. its the best work around for roblox on linux.
