Input-remapper allows users to map buttons on all input devices (keyboards, mice, gamepads...) in X11 and Wayland. It also supports combined buttons and programmable macros.

This package contains the Python module implementing the remapper. The Glib and Gtk dependencies are only required to use the inputremapper.gui module.

This was a fabulous piece of software but this latest version simply does not work. I wonder why break what did a great job and was simple to use. I reinstalled Linux Mint on my computer and upgraded from 21.3 to 22.1 while doing so. Not too thrilled with some of the changes they made there but so far everything I have installed works fine. Everything that is except this software. The interface has changed. But that is not the problem. What is a problem is that my previous mapping files do no longer work and I can not, however hard I try, set it up with the new system. The remapper simply does not find/recognize half the keys I press. Frustrating.
