I come from a legacy Unix background, HP-UX, AIX, Solaris, and until now was unhappy with linux not having a means of creating a bootable system backup on either tape, ot some other media. Now I have found and tested rear, and love it. It lets me do exactly what I want, even to a PXE server across the network. I am currently using a USB disk drive though, as I do not have a PXE server set up at home.
