Radio Station Streaming URL's and .m3u and .pls playlist Audio file links useful for Radiotray app.

Here is a web site with circa 4000 (mainly European) Radio Streaming browser links:

                                             www listenlive dot eu

This site also gives .m3u and .pls files which are useful if you use the Radiotray applet application.

              LM Menu-> Software Manager → root password → enter radiotray in the Search Box.

Call Out: There are other Radio players like Great Little Radio Player (also in the LM17 Software Manager) and other Streaming sites ( Shoutcast, Live 365 etc). This tutorial just covers listenlive dot eu and Radiotray version 0.7.3 as working quite well on LM 17.1 x86 / 64bitt Cinnamon 2.4 Kernel 3.13.0 -24. running on a computer with an Intel i3-4030U CPU @ 1.90GHz processor and Haswell Graphics Card. 4 GB RAM.

                           Quick Guide if reader new to Radiotray applet application

Introduction:

This is an applet that runs in the panel. It comes with some music stations pre configured and also allows you to add your own URL's for other radio stations you like. The url is not the browser url of the radio station rather it uses .pls or .m3u stream file to extract the url to configure a new station.

Radio Tray How to Configure a new Radio Station from listenlive dot eu .pls or .m3u file

                                 (For example for the BBC World Service news service)

1, Go to www listenlive dot eu in your browser.

2. Navigate to United Kingdom and left click with mouse.

3. Scroll down the page to the BBC World Service row.

4. On this row move mouse pointer to the third column called Listen live.

5. Here see two links: a circular icon followed by 32kps and icon angled square 48kps.

        The circular icon is for M$ Windows Media Player (.asx) We don' t want that.

6. Hover your mouse pointer over the 48kps beside the angled square icon on the BBC World Service row.

       Then left click mouse and presented with menu : Opening eneuk.pls

7. Two Choices to (Open with) or (Save File). Choose Save File.

8. Navigate to where you save downloaded files (eg Download folder)

        Here you should see a file called eneuk.pls

        Right Click this file → Other applications → scroll down to → Text Editor, select and click OK

         ( In this example using default gedit text editor that came with LM 17,, 64 bit Cinnamon Edition)

9. The file opens as below. We can use first http link to copy in the Radio Tray configure step 10 below.

                       [playlist]

                       numberofentries=2

                       File1=http://bbcwssc.ic.llnwd.net/stream/bbcwssc_mp1_ws-eieuk

                       Title1=BBC World Service English Radio

                       Length1=-1

                       File2=http://bbcwssc.ic.llnwd.net/stream/bbcwssc_mp1_ws-eieuk_backup

                       Title2=BBC World Service English Radio

                       Length2=-1

10 A Open Radio Tray ( Left click the icon on Left Hand side of your applet panel).

10 B A black Icon appears on Right Hand Side of our Panel near the Date/Power icon.

10 C Left click this black icon to open the Radiotray menu.

10 D From the Radiotray menu select Preferences → Configure Radios.

10 E Add Radio Name e.g. type in BBC world service and copy in .pls file Url from step 9 above.

10 F From the Radiotray menu select → Preferences -> Reload Bookmarks

This saves the new station (BBC World Service in this example) to your Radio Tray station menu.

Hope you found this tutorial useful
