If you are addicted to Cinnamon and wants to remove Mate desktop environment from your pc (if installed alongside), then..

Open Terminal: Ctrl + Alt + T

Type: sudo apt-get remove mint-meta-mate

Type your password.

You are done. Now Mate is deleted, but leaves about 85 MB of unwanted packages to your pc.

For that type: sudo apt autoremove

Thats all..
