Hello everybody!

This tutorial has the goal to solve the big issue to share a folder between a host WinXP and a guest Mint Julia operating system. The procedure is very simple and I hope it could be helpful for many users of the community.

  1. On WinXP modify the property of the folder you want to share and enable the sharing settings;
  2. Install the VMware tools;
  3. Open the terminal window on Mint;
  4. Type in # modprobe vmhgfs;
  5. Go to the following directory: cd /mnt/hgfs and you will find there the shared folder.

P.S. BTW I prefer Virtual Box to/than VM Player because VBox is full stuff issue, you can create any VMs etc. And it's "freeware" :D

Hmmm, interesting.
BTW, isn't it easier, when you plan to run anything in VM (VirtualBox or whatever) to make any share this way? ^^
