1.) Open the terminal (Alt+F2, gnome-terminal or mintMenu/Terminal).
2.) Switch to administrator: type 'su root' then the root's password.
3.) We have to add the storage where this applet can be found. Type 'add-apt-repository ppa:dockbar-main/ppa'.
4.) Type 'apt-get update'.
5.) Now we can install this applet. Type 'apt-get install dockbarx'.
6.) Right click to the panel (blank part of it): Add to panel/DockBarX Applet/Add.
Doesn't work on mint 12. I get
"Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: python-gnomeapplet"
@alfalive - Add DockBarX applet to panel, as mentioned in the tutorial: "Right click to the panel (blank part of it): Add to panel/DockBarX Applet/Add."
In some cases, you may need to kill gnome-panel first.
You can also run dockbarx in a window, for debugging purposes, with the command
$ dockbarx_factory.py run-in-window
thank you
how to start this dockbarx ?
theball104: thanks for the note ;)
Step 2 is completely unnecessary.
Alternatively add ppa:dockbar-main/ppa via Software Sources then install via the Software Manager!
Nice tutorial and one point worth mentioning, after you have us su we done need sudo on the post commands. Thanks
Or:
Browse to https://launchpad.net/~dockbar-main/+archive/ppa/+sourcepub/1162930/+listing-archive-extra
Download and install the .deb files you need or open them immediately with Gdebi
