Old timer here, began when I was 11 years old, went through the era of the original ps2 :) I've had IBM PS/2, Tandy 1000 EX, TRS-80, Amstrad, etc. I picked up one if not the first Pentiums when I made the very awful decision to buy instead of build, mainly at that time I was in university in the middle of a BSIT degree (the 'bullshit') as we called it then, a Bachelors of Science Information Technology. So in a rush and not wanting to build another 486 the new "greatness" was the Pentium that just came out recently, so I bought a Packard Bell Legend 70 CD Supreme (yes it was horrible), but pentium 75mhz, 8 meg ram, 4x cdrom, very tiny hard drive, it came with windows 3.11, then once Windows 95 came out I reformatted and installed Slackware 3 on it around the 2.0.29 kernel.

I've been a hardcore Slackware fanboi ever since, even my colocated server I own the physical rack is Slackware. (Only because im still of the old school anti systemd, "linux should be Posix" crowd).

But I have really enjoyed Linux Mint. I can have my personal grumbles and opinions on systemd but I'm old enough to set those aside and enjoy a very nice distro when I see it.

Kudos to everyone that works and uses Mint. I have installed Mint 18.1 on my main box now, and while my other boxes do still run slackware as media/filesharing/torrent/music/etc and home automation system. I've been enjoying a desktop GUI for once.

I've spent about 70% of my internet life on the command line where I'm most comfortable, but It was time for a change of pace and see what you "gui kids" (jokingly), are up to nowdays. haha.

Feel free to contact me, I love good ol' trips down linux nostalgia lane. My old Packard Bell pentium 75mhz still boots Slackware 2.0.33 kernel, It's a crappy system but I do keep good care of my systems and I tend to be a little of a hoarder as I also still own my IBM ps/2 and Tandy 1000 EX.
