Mike Dillingham was born in a blinding snowstorm in New York City. When Mike’s mom went into labor, Mike’s dad, a New York City Police Officer, was on duty. The fire that night in the first floor restaurant of the 6-story building where they lived only added ambiance to the event of Mike’s birth, and served as an omen of the adventures to come. So how did a New York City kid, born in a blizzard, end up in Alaska? Well, besides the dogs, Alaska’s beauty, tranquility, and privacy were a natural magnet for Mike after he retired from the Air Force. Mike has traveled to many parts of Alaska and wrote parts of the books in places like Juneau, Ketchikan, Bethel, Naknek, King Salmon, Fairbanks, Palmer, Wasilla and Anchorage. When asked why he wrote these books, Mike replied, "For Rivers, for the dogs, and especially for the kids."

Mike is the author of 3 children's books about a blind Alaskan Husky racing sled dog named Rivers. Rivers, the blind Husky is the stroy teller in the books. Summaries of the books and other information is located at www.riversbooks.com
