I have 20 + years of experience in the computer industry, my main focus had been in Windows technology, from servers to workstations.
I got my start in computers when I was in High School, my parents purchased a Kaypro2x system, this system came with CP/m as the OS, along with a lot of business software for creating spreadsheets, and word processing.
I cut my teeth on the internet when it was still all text, and no HTML, I was never an AOL user, always got my dialup from companies that did not restrict my usage to their own interface.
My first tech job was as on site support for an advertising agency in Minneapolis, I have been moving up from that position ever since to where I am now as a Systems Engineer for a national bank in the US.
I first tried Gnu/Linux while working at my second job, at that time it was very hard to install. I noticed back then that people in the Linux forums were so against windows that they really put people off from asking questions. At that time I looked around as said to anyone I knew that Linux would go the way of Unix if it got too specialized, and that if it did not change to embrace windows users it would never win against MS.
Since that time I have seen Linux become very user friendly, and so easy to install that switching a windows user over to Linux is not a difficult job. So I started a company where I will try to focus on doing just that. I have looked around for a really good distro for doing this and have settled on Linux Mint. My plan is to build my business around getting companies to migrate to Linux Mint, and thanks to MS and their latest version of windows that may be easier to do.
As I go along I plan to put together a guide book for my customers, and I will be putting up tutorials from that book on this site as well.
