Linux Mint Mate Edition is ok if you update your system (igore the warning), after update it's ok.
Will the repository keys be fixed if I do an update, ignoring all the warnings??
On my 32-bit machine I tried to start the installation stick in compatibility mode, and then it succeeded without any problems! Now I am trying to install on that computer, but it takes some time caused by the slow usb-sticks I use, both as installation media and target media.
When I before tried to do something in the console the system asked for loginname and password. I couldn't go on, because they are unknown for me. Then I tried the "compat"-mode instead...
During the installation-media-start-process I could se windows with lots of text explaining what was happening, but I could not save them nor post them to you. Now I'll see what happens when I try to restart the machine after the installation is completed.
tux-sven & jan-olof: from the console (CTRL+ALT+F2), see if you can start X on its own with "startx". If you can't, paste the Xorg logs. If you can, try to launch MDM with "sudo service mdm restart" and if it's MATE which fails to load, check the content of ~/.xsession-errors.
kneekoo: The onscreen keyboard layout is fixed, it won't be affected by locale.
tux-sven & jan-olof: Give me more info on that Xorg problem... what is the cause of it?
The repository key is wrong in this ISO, that's why you're getting issues with updates and installing codecs etc.. this is already fixed in newer ISOs.
Hi guys,
I'm terribly sorry, I sent this old ISO towards QA, instead of the proper one which was built on the 26th.
I can still use your feedback, as some of it is still relevant, but many issues are already solved.
- Support Optimus (intel/nvidia) : Ok
Just as jan-olof I could not start the live-stick on my 32-bit computer. "Failed to start the X-server"
Now I am running live on a 64-bit machine. I notice that there are now finally plenty of screensavers!!!
Thanks to the team!!!
This is a 32 bit edition but I can only run it in 64 bit computers. Maybe someone has been "cleaning up" to much in the settings for the X server ("Failed to start the X server").
#044: apt update
NO_PUBKEY A6616109451BBBF2
W: Failed to fetch http://packages.linuxmint.com/dists/sarah/Release.gpg
#042: apt sources - this is mostly correct but the test case should reflect the reality. The backports are not mentioned in the test case but they are present in the sources for both Mint and Ubuntu.
#036: Localized installation - The login manager should use the foreign keyboard layout
I selected Romanian on install, and the on-screen keyboard in the login manager didn't have any of the Romanian characters, but a mixed set of characters for other languages.
#019: /etc/linuxmint/info says USER_GUIDE_URL=help:linuxmint
Everything seems to be working correctly, though (Welcome -> Documentation).
#003: Plymouth text theme - displays "Ubuntu 18" on shutdown
Reproduce this by following exactly the instructions in the #003 test case: "insert the option plymouth:splash=ubuntu-text..." - which means I added the option and did not remove "splash". Anyway, the text should say "Linux Mint 18".
Now I succeded using wget, but it closed the connection and restarted 6 times!!!
#019: LSB and info file: USER_GUIDE_URL=http://www.linuxmint.com/documentation.php
That line isn't correct
