Impressive package for open source, close to the quality of commercial packages in some areas. I would even say it looks better than some of the leading commercial programs. Unfortunately it's missing some critical details and features. For example, Mash temperature has no effect on fermentability, and hops added after the boil have no effect on bitterness. There's also practically no support for water chemistry, and tools for ferment schedule are rudimentary. Used on its own, Brewtarget may be better suited to a novice brewer or just as an aide to those brewers that like to play by ear. However, if used in conjunction with other tools or spreadsheets, the limitations of Brewtarget can be overcome to make it a useful application for experienced brewers of all stripes. The best thing about Brewtarget for me, though, is just how oddly fun and satisfying it is to just sketch out and tinker with recipes and ideas.
