Photocrea is a free image editor that includes all the familiar features like layers, filters, magic wand selection, etc. It supports formats from Adobe Photoshop i.e. .PSD, but also .XCF from GIMP, .Sketch from Sketch App, .XD from Adobe XD and .CDR from CorelDRAW software. From 2020 it also supports .FIG files from WinFIG, .RAW and .TGA images.
NOTES: This application is unofficial wrapper of web application Photopea. Only the Electron wrapper itself is licensed by MIT. The web application is under a proprietary license.
i like photopea, but i don't trust them as a proprietary software that runs ads. so i appreciate that someone made a flatpak version with built-in adblock. HOWEVER it freezes up if i try to close a project without saving. i'd recommend just running photopea as a PWA in an isolated browser profile like i was previously doing
I give this app a 4/5 from an impartial perspective. It would be a 5 star if it had no baked in ads, however I am aware I can get rid of those for $5/month which I find much more attractive than Photoshop's $22/m fee for a desktop app that isn't even supported (Without some serious wine-fu). Functionally this app is a good choice for photoshop users, it supports PSD files well and the UI is familiar for photoshop users - It has at least from my experience got all of the same tools I need to continue doing what I did on Photoshop, So for those reasons it earns it's 4 star rating. I would like to point out as is stated in the description, this is an Electron wrapper for a web application - That said, it does appear to work with and without internet access, so that is a bonus.
