"nitter stopped letting me download twitter videos. but this worked like a charm. i'd definitely recommend it"

org.strawberrymusicplayer.strawberry
"a great music program that i'm using while the linux app for aimp is still in beta testing. it's great! gapless playback, has a radio directory, good music quality. my only wish is that they'd have icecast in the radio directory too, especially since it's a clementine fork. the reason i use this instead of clementine is because clementine has some outdated dependencies that won't run on my computer. but still strawberry is nice and that's my only complaint"

org.keepassxc.KeePassXC
"a good password manager. not as convient as bitwarden because of the lack of automatic syncing between apps. but it gets the job done and is more private. even if you have bitwarden, i'd still recommend this for offline passwords"

org.nicotine_plus.Nicotine
"a nice way of finding music. most of the stuff is in mp3, but sometimes i'm able to find flac or ogg too"

io.github.Hexchat
"i wish libera.chat let me use a vpn while on it & it's a bit complicated to use at 1st. but otherwise, i really like this! it's a fun nostalgic messaging program. i choose this one for irc because i like the design"

hypnotix
"i like the idea of the app. but it's slow as hell and i had to switch providers for the channels. since the ones from the default provider often don't load due to those channels changing their policies. if anyone wants to know how to change providers, click on the tiny tv icon next to the settings button. maybe if it wasn't competing with the live tv section on free streaming websites, i'd like this more. but as it stands this is one of those areas where proprietary software is genuinely better, probably bc a lot of those proprietary streaming websites are cracking down on ip tv. but eh unless it gets fixed i might just stick with watching pluto tv with my vpn set to the usa EDIT: the slowness might have been my vpn because i switched and it's working now"

dev.vencord.Vesktop
"i installed this because discord kept crashing when i checked a specific friend's messages in my browser. now it works!! thanks vencord"

spotify-client
"the app stopped working. i had to do a complete uninstall to get it to work again. the only way to do that through the terminal is "rm -R ~/.config/spotify" and i consider rm commands unsafe. so i just manually used the file manager to delete it after uninstalling through the software manager. i only still use this because of that's where everyone puts their playlists & the spicetify mod makes it more bearable. it wont even open links & when i copy paste the link in the search bar it always come up with the wrong result. i'd use nuclear music player but it isn't fetching playlists lately for some reason"

com.ktechpit.whatsie
"i used this for a while. but it stopped working and then days later i had to relink my device. also it forced me to use the light theme for no reason"

io.github.martinrotter.rssguard
"i really like this!! i mostly use it for peertube channels"
4
anarchism
"i'd imagine this is a good intro to political theory, but the links don't work anymore. just use the anarchist library's onion site"
2
cmatrix
"a fun thing to use when you're bored!!! i love using ascii art in the terminal"
5
ttf-mscorefonts-installer
"this works!! my dad was worried about the small font sizes on certain websites because he's planning on switching to linux mint. however this fixed that!! he has eyesight problems. so hopefully i'll install this for him & it'll help"
4
firefox
"the default browser for most linux distros. what can i say? i used to like this more. but after their new privacy policy, they're now just the browser i use streaming and job application stuff because netflix doesn't work in waterfox anymore. still better than chromium based browsers tho"
3
chromium
"Basically the only chromium browser that isn't bloatware ironically. Installing extensions is a bit cumbersome though. But eh, still useful for sites & extensions that require chromium. Also it still has adblock support :)"
4
com.github.tchx84.Flatseal
"This is such a lifesaver!! After a recent update, I was having problems uploading files to websites on librewolf. But having Flatseal helped a bunch with that. Also being able to use settings for your flatpak sandboxes is just useful in general."

io.gitlab.librewolf-community
"I think when it comes to the most privacy-conscious firefox forks it goes: 1) tor 2) mullvad 3) librewolf. I primarily use librewolf & it works for most things. However DRM stuff breaks in it. For good reason, since DRM is privacy invasive. But I still need it for streaming. So I keep firefox for that stuff. I used to use waterfox for streaming, but Netflix stopped working in it. Like waterfox, librewolf also has tab containers enabled by default which is cool."

info.smplayer.SMPlayer
"This is really cool. However if you change the "always on top" settings to "while playing", it gets kinda buggy. At least for me. Also the dual subs feature seems like it'd be useful for language learners."
4
tv.plex.PlexDesktop
"The lack of PiP mode would be a problem if Linux didn't let you set windows to "always on top." But otherwise it's great. I've said this before: it's like a streaming swiss army knife. Basically the only proprietary app I have installed. other than Spotify."
4
audacious
"I love this!! The ability to physically delete files/folders inside the player, the winamp skins!! The reason this isn't higher is because I kinda miss AIMP especially the bookmarks feature. Also I kinda wish .wal file type winamp skins were compatible, not just .wsz file type ones. But the audio quality and customizability is still great."
4
com.bitwarden.desktop
"It balances privacy, security and convience."
4
com.vscodium.codium
"I like it a lot. It's basically just visual studio code without the privacy concerns. Reinstalling certain extensions is a bit cumbersome since some stuff isn't available on vscodium's marketplace & visual studio code won't let you download vsix files from the marketplace website anymore. But they WILL let you do download vsix files from the program itself. Even if your extension is from microsoft, vscodium has its own substitute extensions. So I definitely recommend checking it out."

io.freetubeapp.FreeTube
"The concept behind this is great. There's a lot of features I like: built-in adblock, subscription categories, a setting for sponsorship block, locally stored subscriptions & playlists, and custom colors!! But the problem is every once in a while, it gets buggy. It was like this on Windows too. So I know it isn't a Linux Mint problem. Usually it's because of youtube updating their code or temporarily blocking certain IPs. However sometimes it's because of a genuine bug or a corrupted file. Those bugs are the only thing preventing me from giving it 5 stars. I debated giving it 3. But I guess I have a soft spot for this program."
