Finch is a text/console-based, modular instant messaging client capable of using multiple networks at once. Currently supported are: AIM/ICQ, IRC, Jabber/XMPP/Google Talk, Napster, Zephyr, Gadu-Gadu, Bonjour, Groupwise, Sametime, and SIMPLE.

Some extra packages are suggested to use increased functionality: * libx11-6 - To use the Clipboard and/or Toaster plugins.

Somewhat buggy, but I didn't find a better alternative for terminal xmpp client.

You will want to read the manual before using this, but if you use pidgin, but also spend much time in terminal, you'll find this useful. It's at least good to have on-hand as a backup...
