Amboss Solution works for me, I'm running a mint 19.3 for anyone who wants to try his suggestion but gets "permission denied" to edit the file here is what you do "open Terminal type ,,sudo nano /usr/games/freecol,, 'without the commas' "if you don't have nano type the name of whatever text editor you do have installed do not use Notepad or TextEditor unless you know how have them work in the terminal"' ,Find the -Xincgc line of text and delete it ,Save changes made ,Exit the terminal" and you should be good to go
LM19 is using java 11 (or java 8 if you force it to). In the file /usr/games/freecol java is started with the option -Xincgc which is deprecated. If you edit the line starting with run_java and remove that option it will run fine.
i just dont get it-everyone sais it crashes all the time but i play it on a 2006 samsung laptop and it works just fine
Great game! Just miss a simultaneous play multiplayer feature. Waiting for other players to finish their turns in multiplayer tests one's patience.
Old but nice game! It happens to crash sometimes but you can rely on auto-saves.
I would really like to play this game but it crashes every ~5 rounds. Ugly!!
