I installed kodi through software manager and there were no audio tracks available when playing DVD's. Installed through PPA (https://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Install_Kodi_for_Linux) and all works ok.
There are two Kodi entries, this one and also tv.kodi.Kodi. tv.kodi.Kodi is a Flatpak version which is up to date with the current Kodi release 19.2. The Kodi entry is still at 18.6. One should be removed or brought up to the latest Kodi release.
Kodi the "Go To" media player for any network media. only gets a 4 because learning how to use the settings is the key to having a great experience. example if you have a NAS storage it may be best to go and turn on upnp in the settings in order for kodi to recognize that there is a server ready to stream over your internal network. this isn't turned on when first installed. works great in mint 20.2
Kodi works wel with Linux Mint 20.2. However, I could not navigate down the file tree to find a movie. For example, I could not go deeper than XXX.dir wheere the movie I wanted is XXX stored in that directory. Also, it is difficult to find the exit option when a movie is finished.
Kodi i a very powerful media player application. I have been unable to find a media file that it will not play. Some of my audio files are more than a decade old and they still play, compressed or not. The interface is simple but very intuative. My only gripe is that when listening to an extended audio playlist, the computer will suspend itself. This is not an issue when watching a movie. I do recommend Kodi as an one stop media player.
Funktioniert und es lassen sich alle notwendigen Plugins installieren. Kann mich soweit nicht beschweren.
Well in my experience it is playing UHD/HDR videos which most media players lack, which require a plugin added to its program. This too is such a powerful tool no wonder the last two reviews shun its existence. You can watch any movie you give it but it can also boost the audio and automatically adds subtitles to the movie without having you to search for them yourself on your pc. These are just some of its Many features highly recommend it.
It wouldn't connect to the internet, even though the network screen showed it as connected and had internet. I looked for simple solutions and found none. I am not a programmer. I am a user, a fairly advanced user for windows. But the solutions I found were all goboldy-gook. I thought mint was supposed to be a system for non-programmer types new to Linux, like me? I uninstalled it.
Great app, but highly recommended to get the current most up to date version from Kodi directly. Many add-ons break with this version (ie-Specto) on account of it still being Isengard.
