Great CLI program BUT any time I install this, it keeps the webcam activated after install and every time at start up, which is pretty sketchy. But it seems possible to stop with some systemctl commands
You can easily edit the self explaining file: /etc/motion/motion.conf. Just set the option "target_dir" to a path you like. save the file and just type "sudo motion" to start it. OK, a GUI is always nice for the users who are afraid of a terminal but motion is so easy to use that it's not really necessary.
It's programs like these that stop people from switching to Linux. Something that should be simple, installing a webcam, is needlessly complicated without a GUI. Hunting for textfiles and trying to (figure out how to) edit them went out of fashion in the 1990s. It's time Motion entered the 21st century.
