NixNote is a client for the Evernote service (www.evernote.com). It will allow synchronization and editing of notes from your local system.

Once known as "NeverNote", this software was rewritten in C++/Qt to provide a native user experience.

Just watched this thing crash my whole system trying to do a find-and-replace. DO NOT INSTALL.

It used to be good, but it's not being updated since 2017 and now it's very bugged. I do not recommend the use because you can lose some content of your notes!

Unfortunately, I must downgrade my rating a bit because I recently converted my remaining Windows 10 computer to a second Linux Mint 20 computer and installed NixNote2 on that second Linux Mint computer. At first, all seemed to be well, but after a bit less that 10% of my database was synchronized on the second Linux Mint computer, synchronization stopped working on both computers. For now, I am removing NixNote2 from both computers and resorting to using the web version of Evernote on each of these computers. I may try to resume using NixNote2 at some time in the future, but for now, as a practical matter, I must now concentrate on other matters. I did truly like NixNote2 and was hopeful that it would work on both computers., [My previous review follows for the sake of having these comments mae more sense:] Happily, I can upgrade my rating from 2 to 5! The process of synching my very large Evernote database of well more than 20,000 notes (a mix of all sizes of notes ranging from very small to very large) was very tedious, but once completed, Nixnote2 now performs superbly for me on my Linux Mint 20.3 Cinnamon computer. Nixnote2 reminds me very much of Evernote when I first started using it about 10 years ago on another Windows computer and an iPhone, and it is much faster and more convenient (for my needs) than the current version of Evernote on my Windows 10 computer. Since Nixnote2 is working so well for me, I am getting ever closer to dumping Windows completely and converting that Windows computer into a second Linux Mint computer. The tedious intial synching process failed frequently with error messages after varying numbers of notes being succesfully added to the growing Evernote database on my Linux computer, but as that database gradually grew, the number of notes being added to my computer between the synch failures seemed to increase. The only successful process that I found for restarting that initial synching process was: (1) remove Nixnote2, (2) restart the computer, (3) re-install Nixnote2, and (4) re-launch Nixnote2. The entire process took more than 2 weeks with my computer running the entire time, but the progress was only checked as I had time available to check it. I use Evernote only as an individual and not as part of any kind of team operation. As always, Evernote continues to work very nicely on my iPhone as it has through several generations of iPhones. I have found it most convenient to set Nixnote2 as pinned to the task bar of my Linux Mint computer with the auto-start option active. At each computer start, Nixnote2 does take a significant amount of time (minutes) to open, apparently due to the large size of my database. The very infrequent synch failures now only require closing Nixnote2 and re-starting the computer. As I have gained experience with Nixnote2, I have noticed that Nixnote2 does not always promptly find and synch all new notes generated on either my iPhone or my Windows 10 computer, but it does seem to eventually find and synch all of them.

This Evernote client is easy to install and configure. It synchronizes reliably. NixNote is clearly designed and does not have an over-the-top look. For its practical layout, this client still offers a comprehensive range of functions. I just switched from Windows 10 to Linux Mint 20.2. Thanks to the excellent range of applications on offer, I haven't regretted it yet and don't miss Windows at all. Dear developers of NixNote, you essentially contribute to this. Many thanks from Kiel for your services.

Had no problem getting the software to load and run but the user experience came up short. Have used the software for record keeping via a web browser and have the need to attach photos. Not happening with this version and had to uninstall. Some minor issues with fonts as well. Close, but no cigar.

I actually started using CherryTree Notes which is rather popular. But then I saw this which Syncs with EvrNote on my phone which is where I take a lot of my notes. I love the simplicity of the organization!
