This app allows you to send files and messages over the local LAN network.

In contrast to most alternatives, no external servers are needed.
Everything happens locally in the wifi network.

LocalSend is such a life saver! It was really easy to transfer my entire music library to my Android phone. (I did have to compress my music and send it in batches because it was over 60 GB.) And the UI is very nice.

Finally a good replacement for Warpinator that looks really good, works perfectly and its usage is obvious.

A very useful app, because of its cross platform identity, I can send from device I have to any device, also it is very small on linux (not some electron based app)

Nice add-on! Does it's job easy and fast. Cross-platform. Download folder visibility problem is solved. Works better than airdrop.

Airdrop for every device! FOSS (Free Open Source Software) Exactly what I was looking for to send photos and files between devices and friends. To setup I had to add the recommended exceptions to my firewall for port 53317

It would be better if it could use bluetooth as well, but the security/speed concerns are understandable. overall 7.9 out of exponential 10

For success with iOS to Mint, I launched Firewall in Mint and added a new rule to allow incoming connections for both protocols through port 53317 on all interfaces. Obviously LocalSend must also be installed on the iOS device. Then choose LocalSend instead of AirDrop etc. Also edit the list of favourite iOS communication apps for quicker access to LocalSend.

I guess it's good, but I wouldn't know. Doesn't matter what I do, what I try, it just won't work. I tried with multiple laptops, multiple phones, multiple networks, but to no avail. My phones and laptops/PCs can't see each other.
