Pitivi is a video editor that aims to appeal to hobbyists and professionals alike, with a strong focus on efficiency, quality and usability. It integrates well with other applications and sports a beautiful user interface designed to be powerful yet easy to learn.

With a non-modal editing workflow, a framerate-independent and playhead-centric timeline, Pitivi allows you quickly and accurately trim, split and review your scenes. Pitivi's ripple and roll editing features allow spending more time on storytelling and less time on "pushing clips around".

Some other features include:

  • Accepts any file formats supported by the GStreamer multimedia framework
  • Can animate hundreds of special effects and filters with keyframable properties
  • Ability to set custom aspect ratios, framerates and rendering presets
  • Easy to use crossfades and SMPTE transitions
  • Multihead-friendly with detachable user interface components

Switched to kdenlive due to: 1) Latest Pitivi versions only comes as Flatpak app (I don't like Flatpak => Ergo: Not installing it on my system). 2) The alternative (non Flatpak) Pitivi version is way to ooold. 3) And that older version is just to unstable, and generally unwilling, to keep around. & (4) kdenlive is available as simple AppImage(no fuss, no mess, no need for Flatpak). Semblable à OpenShot Video Editor, mais en mieux.

It has a steep learning curve and the directions are not the best. However once you get it, it is very good. I was able to merge together 3 different videos with 2 different formats, and edit out some long pauses to make a reasonble to watch video.

Had potential. Program froze up while simply adding a single picture and a low size MP3 file. Wouldn't start again after that. A lot of potential bad sadly didn't work for me.
