Found a Post explaining how to install Google Chrome on Linux mint 16 (petra). I've tested it and works perfectly.
All you need to do is add the chrome repo key to the system and apt-get update.

download & install by double clicking.... that's what it takes to install google chrome......
A much easier solution suggested by xenopeek over at forums.linux.mint.com
Easier alternative as offered by Google:
- Go http://www.google.com/chrome/
- Click on download
- Select either the 32 bit or 64 bit download for Debian/Ubuntu
- Double-click the downloaded file in your file manager to launch the installer
