Age 74, a retired doctor who has worked as a management consultant to the medical profession. Legs stiff, brain working.
First computer was an Epson HX20, straight after launch, although I had used ICT equipment (500 series) before that. Fell into Windows with version 3.1, and been a loyal user until I had the mishap of getting a new machine with Windows 8.0.
OK. I have tried it for 7 months: it stinks - you can quote me. Huge, clumsy, variable speed, irritating 'charms', inadequate help files ... it's got the lot.
Now I am fed up, and want to try Linux. I like the look of Petra.
I am running a dual boot with Windows XP for the present, in case I do something stupid: all useful tips very gratefully received.
