banshee
"Banshee now seems to be the one and only music player available for Linux Mint that is at all capable of accessing music coming from a NAS iTunes media server. The trouble is, it is quirky, if not hopelessly unreliable. Strangely enough I always need to quit Banshee and relaunch it before the NAS share becomes available. If I stop playing music to do something else and the computer goes into sleep mode, Banshee will lose sight the share and the computer needs to be rebooted before it sees it again. However, rebooting the computer is not always guaranteed to straighten out the problem. On such occasions Banshee might decide that the share is now being hosted by iTunes 7, which is too advanced for it to understand. The truth is the share is coming from a Synology NAS, not from iTunes on an Apple or Windows computer. When this glitch occurs I can fix it by renaming the share from within the NAS control interface, which of course is an added hassle. I can't see any logical reason why this should be. I recently installed Rhythmbox 2.99 from the Linux Mint software manager. Bizarrely, this updated version is now incapable of accessing any shares on the network unlike its earlier versions that could. Sad really."
