"Good software but version in repository is very, very old."

unattended-upgrades
"This would be a great idea except I can't tell what level security updates it is going to install. Am I going to allow an unattended upgrade of level 5 patches (security updates or otherwise) when the Mint Update Manager identifies them as 'dangerous updates'? Yeah right, I don't think so!"

radiotray
"I love this radio player. It is unobtrusive, staying totally out of the way and it streams great. I have been using it for a couple of months now and haven't seen any problems. It is very simple but it works, which is all I care about. Yes, the configure radios dialog is a bit clunky but what difference does that make - it gets the job done and I prefer to spend my time listening to the radio, not playing with some bloated interface or continually trying to restart dropped streams."

gedit
"I love this simple editor. When I first moved to Linux from Windows, I used to run Notepad++ with Wine out of habit. Once I got familiar with gedit I am using it about 90% of the time. It is quick and handy without a lot of overhead. This is not the most capable text editor but for most days, this is all I need."
