alarm-clock-applet "I am using it on Linux Mint 22 MATE 1.26.2 and it works well. By default, it uses the system's Freedesktop alarm-clock-elapsed.oga sound file, producing a ridiculously high dog whistle pitch that is almost inaudible to humans, but Alarm Clock allows one to choose any other MP3, OGG or WAV file to one's liking. When it is running in timer mode, a window appears on the screen showing the remaining hours, minutes and seconds, but the seconds are rendered in Flyspeck 3 font, almost unreadable. The developer should fix that and show timer and alarm times in XX:XX:XX format where all digits are the same size and big enough to discern without having to press one's nose against the monitor screen. Even though it is billed as an "applet", it did not get installed in the Add to Panel menu; instead, the icon appeared in the Applications/Accessories menu. To get it on one of my MATE panels, I had to drag it out of the Applications menu to the desktop, then drag the desktop icon to the panel. When deleting a timer or alarm with the "–" button, it doesn't present a verification pop-up, so it is all too easy to accidentally delete an alarm or timer setting. That, too, should be fixed." |
