| system-config-samba "it modifies the smb.conf file OK. but it is missing a 'restart samba' option so that the changes to workgroup etc. take effect. also even though you create the share and give access to user Alice the actual file on disk can remain owned by user root. so you need to go to the cmd line and change ownership before you can actually get to the share from a windows machine." |
