This is a terminal emulator which mimics the look and feel of the old cathode tube screens. It has been designed to be eye-candy, customizable, and reasonably lightweight.

eats waay more cpu power than other terminals i've used - still not an issue, unless your cooling or something is compromised in general. besides that it's lovely and fun to use! although the blur while scrolling fast... not so much. but since i've been wanting to get a look like from 80s computers running terminal text adventure.. yeah this is beautiful

Is it possible to get the cursor into an I-beam shape? other than the cursor being a brick, this is great!

I love the CRT look and the witty name for it, just pure classic nostalgia! Must have! Would be even better if we just had one screenshot to go with the software manager...

One thing I wish was in CRT was imput and output bleeps and blips to emulate a PC speaker. Nostromo's (MU-TH-UR 6000) is a good example of what I mean.

Running Cool-Retro-Term on a MacBook Pro Early 2011 Intel i5 2.4GHz, 8GB RAM. Runs stably. It can be run in all four workspaces too. Each can have it's own profile. So switching between workspaces feels like switching between virtual terminals. Absolutely loving this application. Yes, it does (out of a weird sort of deference) feel like the days of Dennis Ritchie, Ken Thompson, Richard Stallman, Linus himself and Burners-Lee.

This is just too much fun! To get the full experience, I highly recommend runing cmatrix on this. At the end of the day, if you MUST use a terminal, there is no harm in making it a fun experience.
