Higan is an emulator for systems from Nintendo (SNES, NES, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance), Sega (Master System, Game Gear), NEC (PC Engine, SuperGrafx) and Bandai (WonderSwan, WonderSwan Color). It was formerly called bsnes and the SNES emulation is especially complete and polished.

higan strives to provide the most faithful hardware emulation possible. It focuses on accuracy and clean code, rather than speed and special features. It is meant as a reference emulator to document how the underlying hardware works. As a result the minimum system requirements are high.

Interface is so convoluted, in 2020 it is not acceptable: you have to "import" rom files to have them showed in the program library. Performance wise, it is so much worse than other emulators. Other multisystem emulators are much better, try Mednafen or Retroarch, instead.

I don't know where to find the games. They are not installed with Higan. This is frustrating you guys. Step by step instructions help greatly. Not all of us can just figure it out.

higan is one of the greatest innovations in modern game emulation ever. I love it dearly, and it has been my pleasure to talk to byuu once or twice. Please continue to Make Emulation Great Again. (Yeah, I know. That was stupid. lol) XDXDXDXDXD

This is WAY better than ZSNES!!! Accurate sound emulation without cracking and smooth video. It is a little light on features compared to ZSNES but since it runs so much better than ZSNES you'll be too busy playing all of your favorite SNES classics to care! A+++ MUST DOWNLOAD!!!

Less user-friendly than ZSNES. higan's emulation is superior to ZSNES. I still prefer to use ZSNES, though. I haven't tried any ROMs for other Nintendo systems.
