Hugin is a panorama photo stitching program. Essentially, Hugin is a GUI frontend for Panorama Tools. Stitching is accomplished by using several overlapping photos taken from the same location, and using control points to align and transform the photos so that they can be blended together to form a larger image. Hugin allows for the easy creation of control points between two images, optimization of the image transforms, and much more.

This package includes the following graphical interfaces, using the command-line tools provided in the hugin-tools package:
* hugin - Hugin panorama creator.
* hugin_stitch_project - Hugin batch stitcher.
* PTBatcherGUI - Batch controller for the stitching process.
* calibrate_lens_gui - Lens calibration tool.

Installed it then 5 minutes later loaded 6 hand held images into Hugin and followed the step by step guide. I'm amazed that it did such a smooth job of stitching somewhat rough captures together. I used the camera's built in level to keep the images as level as possible and left a significant overlap. I didn't need to make a single adjustment. Start of load to viewing the resulting image file 3 minutes tops. The next one I expect will take less than a minute start to finish. A well done piece of software, easy to use and very powerful.

One of only options for Linux (my 2 paid-for Windoze ones beat it by a hundred miles). Overcluttered interface, no simple workflow or obvious control over options. Last fight was 10 min and no result, PanoPro in Windows worked in 45 seconds. Hugin can do with some extreme UI streamlining, also its is slow-as heck.

Abolute perfect resultas with this program. I really can recommend it. However, like all more complicated tasks, it needs a bit of training.

Just best for panorama stitching, especially when you need control over what you do. Also does true HDR and can correct perpective and optical distortions.
