Spyder is a powerful interactive development environment for Python providing many features and facilities, including advanced editing facilities (including tooltips and completion facilities), issue highlighting, interactive testing, debugging and introspection facilities, an embedded console (IPython) supporting graphics and much more.

This package provides the application.

There is one plugin currently available in Debian: spyder-unittest, in the package python3-spyder-unittest.

Great IDE, but unfortunately this version is quite outdated. I recommend going to the official website and getting the latest version.

I can't imagine doing serious Python development without it. Perfect for debugging and examining tricky programming problems. However unlike the windows install there are a lot of additional modules you must add yourself. Spyder tells you what these are when you click on the optional dependencies list on its help tab. I also recommend installing Tix for programs to use the TIx/Tk interface.
