wine
"Would not run my old Windows flight Sims. Nor Sierra Ballistics program. Can not get it completely off my once pristine Linux system. My simple advise would be to keep an old Windows computer for that stuff. What I used to do is run two hard drives in a box. One with Windows. Then dual boot. I tried dual boot of a single hard drive but that is messy also. If Wine is working for you/. Pat yourself on the back as you are smarter than I. "

etherape
"For a home computer user like myself. EtherApe display is both entertaining and informative. Gives a nice show when you run it along with a high traffic bit torrent program. Screen fills with a couple hundred addresses with all seeds and peers displayed. You can view the graphics to see how your upload signal is sent to several peers simultaneously through a bit torrent program. Have EtherApe installed on my home server. Display monitor is up in corner of office. Simply cool to see how your computer is connected to the world. I don't leave it runing since it pings continuously. But it has a stop start button. So I leave it up then just hit start when I wish to view traffic on my home Internet server. Titillating visual for the easily entertained. Like me. There would be utility for a person whom works for a living also. "

weather-util
"Fast and simple. Just type in my local airport code with a k added in front. The K is standard NWS format. -f option to include a local forecast. Example "weather kdec -f" yields current weather and forecast for Decatur Illinois. -a gives you alerts and if you want metric units just include -m. Very straight forward. "
