MPlayer plays most MPEG, VOB, AVI, Ogg/OGM, VIVO, ASF/WMA/WMV, QT/MOV/MP4, FLI, RM, NuppelVideo, yuv4mpeg, FILM, RoQ, PVA files, supported by many native, XAnim, RealPlayer, and Win32 DLL codecs. It can also play VideoCD, SVCD, DVD, 3ivx, RealMedia, and DivX movies.

Another big feature of MPlayer is the wide range of supported output drivers. It works with X11, Xv, DGA, OpenGL, SVGAlib, fbdev, but also SDL.

This package includes the GUI variant of MPlayer.

Used mplayer extensively in the past when I compiled it into Fedora 4 but now VLC does everything I need for me in Mint.

Stop complaining about subtiltles, guys. I totally figured it out man. You just have to change your subtitles name to exactly as same as your videos name. Like your videos names is Pirates of Torrent Valley DVDrip.avi and your subtitles text names shoud be Pirates of Torrent Valley DVDrip.srt, and gnome mplayer should load subtitles just fine. Totally figured it out, man. Beautiful

It is supporting many extensions. I like it. It also has the function of drag and drop directly from the file explorer to the play list.

Ich liebe Totem der spielt alles ab was ich mochte ob es via de website oder mit ein DVD is er lauft und lauft simpel the best.

Für mich immer noch der Klassiker bei den Videobetrachtern, wenn ich es auch hasse, das er, nicht immer unbedingt den richtigen Audiotreiber oder den richtigen Videotreiber erwischt, wenn man mal die grafische Oberfläche verläßt, also z.B. von Gnome nach Xfce rüberschwenkt. Kann man mit diesem Manko leben, hat man einen hervorragenden Abspieler, der mit jeder Art von Film klarkommt, sofern die Codecs installiert wurden.
