WinFF provides a variety of preset conversion settings for common formats and devices. These presets are intended to hit the "sweet spot" for each individual codec. They have been written with a tip of the balance to quality.
For most presets to work, it is necessary to have the unstripped version of the libavcodec package, which can be obtained by installing libavcodec-extra as suggested by the WinFF suite. It might be necessary to enable additional repositories to find that package.

This great little tool successfully converted a pile of precious videos from an old camcorder for use on my girlfriends rather fussy new phone. Easy to use, does the job simply and perfectly, what a fantastic little utility.

Sehr gut, habe hier einige Hörbücher von Youtube geladen und Winff hat diese sehr einfach in mp3 umgewandelt. TOP!!
Ist ein einfaches und gutes Programm. MP4 Dateien kann es bis 1080p erstellen. Der MKV Container ist leider nicht vorhanden. Dafür kann man eigene Bit- und Bildraten einstellen. Auch die Videogröße in Pixeln kann man nach seinen Wünschen einstellen.
Been using this for about 10 years, as there really is no alternative. Has not really evolved since the first time. Changing settings was and is a pain. No website, no documentation, no support, no forums. Ui is buggy with 4k upscaled displays. For basic operations, it is okay
I use this on my Linux machine, and also on my work Windows one. One of those must haves for multimedia transformation. It is particularly useful for sound file shrinking.
in lm 18.3 there was a starter created in multimedia menu. in 19 need add manually
Very useful tool! Converts videos and clips I find into smaller, more generic file formats to easily display in presentations. Works well and solid. Thank you so much for software like this! Absolutely amazing! Scores 5 with me all day long!
