timeshift "This program will hog all of your storage space during a backup, and the backup will begin without warning at any time of day if you have regular backups (daily/weekly/monthly) enabled. This will make it impossible to save whatever you're working on at the time, until you kill the process and/or delete the backup. If you cancel a backup, your homescreen will be reset. For a second, it appeared as if my device had been wiped. Thankfully in my case no files were deleted (this became clear after rebooting), but all the items on my panel/taskbar were removed and I had to replace them piece by piece. If you're using a PC with a large built-in storage device exclusively for backups, you might find this useful in spite of it's unpredictable nature. Anyone else, especially laptop users, would be better advised to manually copy/paste important files on external storage. " |
