"As a generic tool for dealing with miscellaneous programming languages, it is very nice, but less powerful than Kate. However, for TeX, TeXStudio is better; for R, RStudio is better. Besides, the “Replace” dialogue missing the “Regex” option makes you blindly guess what “\\” will be treated like. A basic tool, nothing more, but for simple text files that will do."
