Live in Richards Bay, Zoolooland, South Africa

As much as I enjoy my multimedia space on my devices, I prefer playing guitar or cooking up something Tex-Mex and sipping back some top-shelf anejo. My wife and I love cross-cultural encounters and adventures.

Software Score
audacious
"Geez... I recall Wimamp back in the 90s. Audacious is not only as good but better 'cos this is Linux after all... chucked Banshee and Exaile (and they are not bad in any way) for this great small app!"

zim
"I replaced Tomboy with gnote (uses less resources) but with both I had the minor schlep of backing up a hidden folder. Now I use Zim cos it does what those apps do and some! Way more!"

goldendict
"Why I like this over gnome-dictionary is it works behind a proxy as well as having a local dictionary instance. My Spanish dicts work there too."
5
virtualbox-3.1
"No dual booting on my localhost. And we're way passed v3.1... and into v4. My windoze clients run as VB instances. Keeps the upstream AD sysadmins happy ."

decibel-audio-player
"Finally... a player that does what it says it does! Kinda reminds me of foorbar (for windoze)"
5
acidrip
"Does what it says it does!"
4
gparted
"While it's useful at installation time... after installation I prefer using the 'disk-utility' app instead."
4
testdisk
"This is one of those under-rated tools... but if you're into forensics or data/partition recovery then this is an excellent tool. Many USBs that lost the FAT or file index, has had it's files recovered with this utility!"

totem
"It amazes me that VLC is so over rated... it uses more CPU cycles and RAM than mplayer. For my stuff, i.e. watching movies... this does it perfectly!"

chromium-browser
"Moved from FF 2 years ago and this just gets better and better"

fotowall
"It's way easy to use and has become a family fav for scrapping together collages "
