"This application allows me to edit my music files' metadata, as advertised. The online documentation is humorous walks one through most issues. Why only 4/5? It hasn't been updated since 2012. Version 2.01 seems stable on Mate 21.3. Hopefully, the authors can hand the app off to a new generation of Linux users."

org.avidemux.Avidemux
"I tried using this application, using assistance from the Avidemux Forum. The application wouldn't snip out frames (from a MOV file). The forum admin cautioned me about using Flatpack versions (they claim it's broken). I'll uninstall it and reattempt reload... it driectly from the developer (or try another app). Pity."

sound-juicer
"This is a decent ripper and re-coding software. Indeed, one cannot adjust bitrate (SoundKonverter CAN do that feature). If one needs a simple application, this does the job."

asunder
"It rips audio CDs into many popular formats. I enabled error correction. Can the app modify Replay Gain settings or customise file metadata (and add album art)? I'm trying out other applications (Juicer and Konverter)."

soundkonverter
"It has all kinds of tweaking goodness. Ideally, I'd like it to have the same customisation as EAC (a WinOS product). Otherwise, it's a solid application."

"I just couldn't get this application to work properly ; Intel 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics vendor: Hewlett-Packard ; driver: i915 v: kernel ports: active: HDMI-A-1 empty: DP-1,VGA-1 bus-ID: 00:02.0 ; chip-ID: 8086:0102 class-ID: 0300."

kamoso
"Basic program. I can't figure out how to fine tune its settings to take advantage of my Logitech Brio's capabilities. That's a pity."

webcamoid
"Rev. June 30/24: stopped working after recent updates (frustrating), so -2; original post = I'm using Webcamoid on a HP Deskpro 2600 (running Mint 21.3 Virginia [Mate]). And a Logitech Brio webcam. It immediately recognized my cam and allowed me to use it. One criticism: you get a notification urging you upgrade to the latest version (ver. 8.x to 9.x)... provided you pay for the upgrade. It's <$5USD, so it's not onerous. I'd recommend the author reword that tab within the application (don't say update... word it as "

io.github.najepaliya.kleaner
"Is this a command-only application? It might be better suited for an experienced user. For its faults (errors not listed), I prefer the intuitive UI of MetaData Cleaner. OS = Mint 21.3 Virginia [Mate]."

keepassxc
"It's a tough little password program. I haven't figured out ways to integrate it with my browser (Chromium, not Firefox). No issues running it on Mate 21.3 (Virginia [Mate]). I like the user interface (UI). I'd recommend it."

cheese
"It allows me access to my webcam. Using it on a HP Deskpro 6200, running Mint 21.3 (Virginia [Mate]), and a Logitech Brio. The application allows me to access most of the cam's features. I do detect a lag with it (unlike Webcamoid [that apps more responsive]). It's a simple application (it appears that the Flatpack version's different from the System Package [LM] version). I'd recommend it."

fr.romainvigier.MetadataCleaner
"I didn't want to screw around with command lines, so I gave Metadata Cleaner a try. It strips all the metadata so that I can post it on my blog (without sharing too much info with bad actors). I'm running it on Mint 21.3 (Virgina [Mate]). I can't tell if I can strip just some of the metadata (all or nothing?). Otherwise, I'd recommend it."
