net.waterfox.waterfox
"Attractive, sleek - what's not to like about Waterfox? Well, one thing comes to mind, and OK, I'll admit maybe I'm just picky, but it's important to me that a browser actually open web pages, which Waterfox does well enough - until it doesn't. With no explanation, it suddenly hunkers into nonresponsiveness, like a severly autistic child. Reboot? Clear history? No: uninstall. Love your work so far, devs; do get back to us when you have something that works!"

com.github.maoschanz.drawing
"I am accomplished in Photoshop and equivalents, and have tried many simpler image editing programs. I think it is safe to say about this one that there is absolutely nothing intuitive about it. Without delving into whatever instructional material is available (which I won't), I find it impossible to do anything worthwhile with it."

com.getmailspring.Mailspring
"Looks and feels nice (until it crashes). I monitor four different accounts. Which means with Mailspring logging into every one of them when starting the app.. Every. Single. Time. Garbage app."

net.blix.BlueMail
"March 2024 and still in pre-beta. Can't imagine why reviewers praise an email client that can't connect to Google. Many other UI fails."
1
pageedit
"As far as I can tell, this application has absolutely no functionality for anyone who needs to edit an ebook."

geary
"Mint 20.3 & Cinnamon: buggy, buggy, buggy. When setting up accounts, it repeatedly "disappeared" email servers after I entered them. I then discovered that if you click on the "disppeared" server entry, it appears, and if you delete one letter then type it again Geary accepts it. Did I mention buggy? If you can get it to work, the modern design (after the dreary environment of Thunderbird) feels like a bobsled ride to inbox-zero. But I dumped it. Update: 3 months later, someone recommended it so I gave it another try. Couldn't get any account set up, even Gmail. Did I mention buggy?"

com.github.ADBeveridge.Raider
"When I first moved from MacOS to Linux, I would have liked this, but now that I'm comfortable with the terminal and Shred, I have no use for it."
3
p7zip-full
"Apparently it's supposed to do something. It doesn't. sudo apt --purge remove p7zip does the trick of getting it off your computer."

io.github.wereturtle.ghostwriter
"Nothing intuitive about it. The interface is completely distracting. Nice hype on their home page though."

netsurf
"Hilariously incompetent browser in 2022. Can't even properly display the pages linked on its home page."
1
abiword
"Lean on resources, but I immediately noticed: no option to password-protect files, generated table of contents does not contain links for navigation, and a 35 kB LibreOffice .odt file swells to 156.5 kB in Abiword native format. Buhbye Abiword, back to LibreOffice."
2
rawtherapee
"I expect this is a very competent program. As a Photoshop user for many years, my experience of Raw Therapee suggests that there is virtually nothing intuitive about it. If you're not at a professional level, expect a steep learning curve."
3
fotoxx
"I have a simple procedure to do: crop a photo, resize it, adjust levels, brightness, and contrast. With Fotoxx, I am going to have to consult help files to accomplish even the first step. Sorry, but no."
2
falkon
"I use this to isolate (as much as possible) Google apps from my regular browsing, and it works great: fast loading."
5
epiphany-browser
"I was looking for a lightweight browser to isolate the Faceborg/Whatsapp from other browsing activity, and Web/Epiphany is perfect. It tends to crash if I forget and wander into other sites, which is a good thing: focus!"

pinta
"Is this a joke? Crashed within 20 seconds of first use on 20.3."

wine-installer
"Mint 20.2, simply doesn't work. I've consulted FAQs, tried suggestions offered here, tried command line. Won't even open the applications it downloads (Explorer). Does not appear in any application menu unless specifically searched."

org.kde.krita
"I'm trying to add some type to fit a space in an image. This is my first try, and I find that there is no way to visually size the type block: the text opens in an overlaying box, text color maybe 80% black over 90% black background. You manually enter the type size, then have to click twice to get back to your image. Once you've done this a few times, playing trial and error to get it right, there is no option to rasterize the layer and manually adjust that. If you try to move the text block, you move everything, including the background layer, even if it is locked. So it looks like a competent app, but it is almost as unintuitive as GIMP. I will at some point put more effort into trying to learn it, but for now will get my job done in Pixlr, which is far more intuitive to a decades-long Photoshop user."

simple-scan
"Skanlite is a more useful option for me."
3
xsane
"Incredibly, this application does not allow you to easily scan part of the scanner surface: want a copy of a receipt? Open your full page scan and crop in an image editor. If it does offer the basic ability to crop, that is well hidden. Even bare-bones Document Scanner has this functionality. Also, the interface, with its myriad of windows, is a disaster."

filelight
"Disk Usage Analyzer is an order of magnitude more useful."
3
transmission
"Garbage. When it did connect, was going to take hours. Then ports were closed with no explanation. Installed Deluge and everything I need was done in under two minutes."
