deborphan
"In light of `sudo apt autoremove` and such, there seems to be no need for this; it removed Cinnamon-critical components that required me to look stuff up online to figure out how to get my own GUI to reappear after simply logging in!"
1
flameshot
"Awesome, more up-to-date than the other Flameshot entry in Software Manager that lacks the official icon. Just check pick System Package vs. Flatpak due to different download sizes."
5
bluedevil
"It doesn't seem to show up at all on Mint 22.3 'Zena,' anywhere; not in the menu, not in Terminal, etc. It's unusable."
1
puddletag
"It's pretty good, but there is no dark mode yet, and cell-editing can get a bit weird. It'd be nice if it could be configured to word-wrap long cells. It also can't read .webm files."
3
keepassxc
"The tiny mouse cursor doesn't scale with 200% displays, but it's otherwise solid."
4
com.heroicgameslauncher.hgl
"So far, so good in auto-launching Proton as needed."
5
img2pdf
"Works flawlessly on Mint 22.3."
5
copyq
"Nearly perfect, except the keyboard shortcut cannot recognize Meta+V in LMC 22.3 for some reason; as a workaround, I had to go into Keyboard to map the custom shortcut "copyq show" to that while ironically leaving CopyQ's own key shortcuts blank. Otherwise, this is the best clipboard manager I've had and have used across OSs for years."

com.github.d4nj1.tlpui
"Superbly helpful to navigate the confusing beast that is TLP's config file. One time, however, it failed to change from one number to another across a restart despite saving and applying, so be sure to enact battery level changes twice just in case."
4
qalculate-gtk
"Stellar, basically the only calculator anyone (at least in the US, based on formatting) would need!"
5
imagemagick
"Malfunctioned on LMC 22.3 (an operation did nothing), and has an unscaled UI that makes it ant-sized on 200% displays."
1
org.kde.kdenlive
"It crashes if you try to do too much, but manually saving regularly solves that problem easily enough. The recursive file search system for recovery upon moved files is great."
4
tlp
"Seems to work well with TLP-UI."
5
io.github.mhogomchungu.media-downloader
"Excellent; playlist-loading is a bit slow, but I'm guessing that that's par for the course. I've had no problems so far."
5
xed
"It's pretty cool, but I dislike how you can't easily add custom syntax-highlighting (it lacks todo.txt)."
4
nemo-compare
"Incredible; this should be a default, preinstalled plugin!"
5
python-is-python3
"This tiny, 15kb thing was required to get Espanso working with Python on Mint 22.3!"
5
musescore3
"Beware; this is stuck at v3.2.3. The latest release is leagues ahead at 4.7.0 now!"

1
filelight
"Totally malfunctions on Mint Cinnamon; all scan-folder buttons do nothing. Use Baobab instead!"
1
gnome-clocks
"On Mint, it uses the Sound settings' "Showing notifications" sound, which by default is "notification.oga," a.k.a. a very brief, quiet ping. It doesn't repeat and simply stays silent afterward as a persistent notification for the ring duration that you specify per alarm. It works, and past issues from other reviews here seem to have been fixed (for example: there is no infinite alarm loop; alarms can be named; and the stopwatch only shows deciseconds, not milliseconds), but if you're looking for a persistent sound/music to keep looping until you stop it, this program doesn't seem to support that option unless you change the tone for all notifications systemwide."

com.github.hluk.copyq
"Works incredibly well, except it won't seem to react to Super+V as a keybinding; I had to resort to Alt+C, which isn't as versatile since other programs' menus may use it. I don't know if this is an issue related to Mint or the program itself, though."
4
net.waterfox.waterfox
"It works for the most part, but you can't join Discord voice channels in the webapp and possibly other mic-requiring systems due to the following banner: "You can't use speech synthesis because the speech dispatcher library is missing." It even links to a broken link when offering a solution: https://www.waterfox.com/support/speechd-setup - it also changes Ctrl+J to Ctrl+Shift+Y for mouse-less Downloads access, and I'm not sure of why."
4
com.tomjwatson.Emote
"It works, but it doesn't accept every keybinding; for example, Ctrl+E works, but not Ctrl+Shift+E, at least on Mint."
4
org.gimp.GIMP
"This is the correct version to get; ignore the outdated version stuck in 2.x whose name is just "gimp.""
5
gimp
"Do not use this one! It's over an entire major version behind the current as of this review, 3.2.4, and is stuck at 2.10.36-3ubuntu0.2404.1. sudo apt update/upgrade won't affect it. Get "GNU Image Manipulation Program" by "The GIMP team" with the correct, brown-colored animal icon with the name "org.gimp.GIMP.""

"This has been extremely helpful to connect to non-tech-savvy owners' machines."

git
"Worked exactly as needed by Kate to compare files!"
